Peter J. Veiguela
Peter J. Veiguela’s practice is concentrated on business and commercial litigation, including fraud, U.C.C. and equipment leasing disputes, as well as representation of secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 proceedings. He has handled numerous receiverships, especially in the hospitality industry. Mr. Veiguela also represents banking clients in documentation, workouts and loan restructures. Mr. Veiguela received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with departmental honors, from Tulane University, in New Orleans, in 1984. He earned his law degree in 1988 from Northwestern University School of Law, in Chicago, where he was on Dean’s List and listed in Who’s Who Among American Law Students. He also was a finalist in the Julius H. Miner Moot Court and served on its Board. Mr. Veiguela also received a Master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in 1994. For seven years he worked as a television news producer and writer in Chicago, while working as a litigator in construction defect, insurance defense and catastrophic loss subrogation cases. He has lectured on commercial sales contracts and other topics. He is the author of several articles, including “Cybersquatting: Highway Robbery in a Digital Age,” Clausen Miller Report (Fall 2000). An accomplished litigator with more than twenty years of experience in both state and federal courts, Mr. Veiguela has recovered millions of dollars for the firm’s clients. In 2007 alone he recovered $2.5 million. He is admitted to all four U.S. District Courts of California and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section. Mr. Veiguela is fluent in Spanish and also licensed to practice law in Illinois.
