Brenda Barton-LeMay
Brenda Barton-LeMay concentrates her legal practice on commercial and business litigation, handling large commercial loans, real property foreclosures, mixed collateral disputes under the Uniform Commercial Code and appointment of receivers. Ms. Barton-LeMay received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated cum laude with a degree in political science. She earned her law degree from the University of Chicago School of Law, where she received the Edwin F. Mandel Award for public service. Before joining the firm, Ms. Barton-LeMay, who is an AV-rated practitioner, garnered extensive experience in all aspects of civil litigation, handling a variety of bankruptcy, commercial, unfair competition, accountant malpractice, business tort, real estate and partnership dissolution cases. She also enjoys significant appellate experience. Her published cases include Arthur Anderson, LLP v. Superior Court (1998) 67 Cal.App.4th 1481; Quackenbush v. Superior Court (2000) 79 Cal.App.4th 867; Blakemore v. Superior Court (2005) 129 Cal.App.4th 36; and Pamida, Inc. v. E.S. Original, Inc. (D.Minn. 2001) 199 F.R.D. 633. She is notably involved in civic activities, including having served as a delegate and executive committee member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Delegation to the California State Bar’s Conference of Delegates. Her proposed resolution revising California Code of Civil Procedure section 2025(t) so that the “one deposition rule” is not applied to depositions taken under the attachment statute was enacted by the State Legislature in 1995.
